Am 31. August 1939 erschien mit „Marvel Comics“ #1 die erste Marvel Ausgabe beim damals noch Timely Publications betitelten Verlag. Nun, 82 Jahre später, nahm sich Marvel dies zum Anlass, um eine kleine Welle von Ankündigungen neuer Comictitel unter dem Banner „Timeless“ in die Welt zu posaunen.
Ganze 7 (na ja, eigentlich 8) Titel sind bisher bekannt, welche zum Teil noch in diesem Jahr starten werden, mitunter aber auch erst für 2022 angekündigt sind.
Heiß gehandelt wird dabei vor allem das im Dezember 2021 startende „Daredevil“ Event „Devil’s Reign“, aus der Feder von Chip Zdarsky und Marco Checchetto. Zdarsky ließ ja bereits wissen, dass es sich bei der Auszeit aktuell tatsächlich nur um eine Pause handele und der Comic nicht abgesetzt wurde.
Die Event-Story soll nicht nur die Handlung der regulären Reihe aufgreifen, sondern auch an die Vorkommnisse des „Free Comic Book Day Venom/Spider-Man“ Specials anknüpfen.
Recht multiversal wird es in „Avengers Forever“ von Jason Aaron und Aaron Kuder, ebenfalls im Dezember diesen Jahres.
Marvel beschreibt den Titel wie folgt:
Marvel Comics’ Avengers Forever pulls together archeologist Tony Stark aka the Invincible Ant-Man and Avengers from across the multiverse to bring order to timelines where ’hope’ is a four letter word. Jason Aaron and Aaron Kuder present an all-new series that will redefine the Avengers as…the Multiverse’s Mightiest Heroes.
Der namensgebende Kampagnentitel „Timeless“ soll derweil von Jed MacKay, Kev Walker, Joe Bennett und Mark Bagley umgesetzt werden. Ebenfalls ab Dezember 2021.
Hier soll ein erster Ausblick auf das Marvel Comic Universum im kommenden Jahr gewährt werden und Kang the Conqueror scheint dabei eine nicht unerhebliche Rolle zu spielen.
The future of the Marvel Universe is here, and Timeless is where it all begins. Ähnlich wie sich bereits „House Of X“ und „Powers Of X“ parallel veröffentlicht gegenüber standen, sollen ab Januar 2022 zwei Wolverine Comics starten: „X Lives of Wolverine“ und „X Deaths of Wolverine“.
Benjamin Percy, Joshua Cassara und Federico Vicentini werden die beiden Comicreihen umsetzen, welche wiederum eine zusammenhängende Geschichte erzählen sollen.
