I had heard rumours, hoped they were not true. Thank you Steve Ditko, for making my childhood weirder, and thank you @wossy for taking me with you when we went in search of Steve Ditko, and found him. A kind man, who gave me comics. https://t.co/SnBGneZgLx

Spider-Man. Dr. Strange. The Question. The Creeper. Shade the Changing Man. Hawk & Dove. He worked with @Marvel AND @DCComics. Such an astounding imagination and the awesome ability to back it up. Thank you #SteveDitko, for sharing your genius and enriching American Pop Culture. pic.twitter.com/fZsUcgqHwA

Back when I was at Marvel, I got lunch one day with legendary editor Ralph Macchio. We’re walking through midtown when some older gent walks past us and gives Ralph a nod.
“That was Steve Ditko.” Ralph says.
I looked back, but the old man was long gone.RIP, Mr. Ditko. https://t.co/wkcv5Z9H6D

RIP Steve Ditko. His work was influential, idiosyncratic, weird, difficult and often unappealingly ideological. But few comics creators were more important. His reclusiveness made him all the more interesting. https://t.co/RFZ1siyNnd

You all remember Steve Ditko for Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.
For me, I’ll remember him for Speedball.
Great rundown on one of my favorite charactersw of all time: https://t.co/IgGeBlfb8C pic.twitter.com/QyumGHC9O2

We all want to leave our mark on the world - this guy crushed it.

#SpiderMan was my first Marvel hero... as a kid I knew almost nothing about comics and only much later did I learn who really created this funny, sad and eternally young hero. Thank you for being with us, #SteveDitko! pic.twitter.com/BbH5PMzSvo

#SteveDitko brought a magic and a humanity even to his most surreal ideas. I used to draw #Spiderman as a very young child & I image his Spider-Man design started many young kids drawing https://t.co/qSLjPDBNlR pic.twitter.com/Bqgorq7xjG

In his lifetime he blessed us with gorgeous art, fantastical stories, heroic characters and a mystical persona worthy of some of his greatest creations. And much like his greatest co-creation, Steve Ditko’s legend and influence will outlive us all. https://t.co/5mf4lhCSs0

Sad to hear of the passing of the legendary artist and creator Steve Ditko. Beloved for generations-- his work was the Quirky to Kirby’s Majesty and helped provide the early visual vocabulary in counterpoint to Kirby’s power and influence. 1/3 pic.twitter.com/GvH8Mcrxg6

Of course, he is best known for co-creating Spider-Man but he also ushered in a slew of unique, very personal and eclectic characters for DC such as the Question, Blue Beetle, Hawk and Dove and more. I only met him once back in the hallways of Marvel when I worked there. 2/3

Polite and unassuming--he never sought attention or the limelight but in many ways represented the hidden hero he saw in all of us. #RIPsteveditko 3/3

Possibly my favorite Ditko panel of all time, from STRANGE TALES #115. So much character, so much seediness. Absolutely love it. Rest in peace, Steve Ditko. pic.twitter.com/RZF9RErk57
